The effect of a series of iron(II) clathrochelates on the activity of HIV-1 virus protease was investigated for the first time in the in vitro test system based on recombinant enzyme and chromogenic peptide substrate. Optimal conditions of enzymatic reaction and quantitative analysis of the activity of compounds was elaborated which was performed by spectrophotometric method. Protease inhibitors active at micromolar concentrations (10-20 uM) were found.
