In the research work "Study of clouds and rains by methods of active-passive remote sensing" the algorithms for retrieval of rain intensity and vertical profile of cloud water content were developed on the base of active-passive remote sensing. Solution of inverse problems is based on the parameterization of the laws of drop size distribution of rain and profile of water content of cloud. It allows to move from nonlinear integral equations to the transcendental equations, which can be solved by numerical methods. It was found on the base of the numerical simulation results of active-passive remote sensing of rains that inverse problem has several solutions and requires the use of additional information to select a single solution. In particular, the proposed criterion provides accuracy of the intensity retrieval, which is not more than 10%. In turn, the calculations of brightness temperature of clouds showed that value of the vertical thickness of the cloud and vertical profile of its water content have weakly influence on the dependence of the brightness temperature on its water content. This allows to reduce the number of unknown parameters of the inverse problem and retrieve the vertical profile of water content using single-frequency activity-passive remote sensing.
