Effort objective: The objective of RE, in accordance with the Contract No. 1323/5828-156-11005-IM11ZF-S-20 of 06.04.2011 between the Shenyang Research Institute (SEDRI) and SE Ivchenko Progress is as follows: - performing an analysis of baseline design and determining the main reasons of intermediate roller bearing destruction on the internal gearbox drive shaft; - elaboration of measures for elimination of its destruction occurrences and design-ing an improved design version. Effort results: The effort results are as follows: - technical reports: Т/о № 33/2011 SP12, Т/о № 34/2011 SP12, Т/о № 35/2011 SP12, Т/о № 36/2011 SP12; - set of drawings for improved parts and assembly units. Stages of research effort completion: According to the Contract the work was completed in five stages: Stage No. 1: 1.1 Requirements specifications for designing an improved assembly unit of internal gearbox drive shaft. 1.2 Contract. Stage No. 2: 2.1 Report "Analysis of internal gearbox drive shaft assembly unit baseline design". 2.2 Report "Analysis of main reasons of intermediate roller bearing destruction on the internal gearbox drive shaft". 2.3 Report "About provisional arrangements", appropriate drawings and technical requirements. Stage No. 3: 3.1 Report "Design of improved version". 3.2 Set of drawings for parts and assembly units of improved version design. Stage No. 4: 4.1 Inspection and acceptance certificates of manufactured drive shafts of im-proved design Stage No. 5: 5.1 Test program and performing tests 5.2 Generalized Contract report. Theoretical and practical results of research: As a result of the research effort recommended are provisional arrangements to the existing configuration permitting to continue the SP12 engine tests, as well as an improved version is developed. Summary: The research effort results can be used when designing bearing supports of drive shafts, operating at high rotational speeds under conditions of insufficient loading of the bearing, with the allowable mutual misalignment of the bearing inner and outer races ensured.
