The subject of the scientific research is the ecological and economic assessment of risks from pollution sources exposure. The purpose of the work -the analytical estimation of the ecological state of the territory in the area of the Lower Danube region, the impact of pollution sources on the life-support system of the Lower Danube region and monitoring of existing approaches to quantitative risk assessment, based on European practice and national legislation. Methods: system analysis, synthesis, analytical, statistical, graphical methods, methods of comparisons. Objectives of the study in the context of the most serious hazards identifying: - giving the characteristic of the natural resources potential and benefits of the Lower Danube Region in the form of cross-border cooperation; - analysis of the current environmental situation in the Lower Danube region; - identification of the main factors of risk; - Assessment of anthropogenic impact on the society; - determining the degree of threat (integrated environmental assessment) in the area of the Lower Danube region; - identification of existing approaches to quantitative risk assessment, based on European practice and national legislation.
