Description

Structure design and synthesis of new heterocyclic compounds of various classes as potential ligands of quadruplex DNA was performed, including porphyrins, cyanines, phenazine and acridine derivatives, etc. Among them telomerase inhibitors active in vitro at 6-12 uM concentration were found that demonstrate antiproliferative activity in tumor cell cultures at micro- and submicromolar concentrations. Toxicity and cellular transport of compounds were studied. Mechanisms of inhibitor interaction with DNA were investigated.
