The general behaviour of recombination luminescence are established along with the interaction features between high-energy radiation and nanoparticles of lanthanum/lutetium phosphate and barium fluoride. The impact of nanoparticle size on luminescence intensity for different excitation mechanisms is investigated. For the first time, the crucial role of nanoparticle size and thermalization length on the exciton luminescence intensity is revealed. However, in case of core-valence transitions, such a phenomenon is nearly neglected.
