Cultivars with different levels of cold tolerans were selected: two winter cultivars (Mironovsky 808, Demetra) and two spring cultivars (Kharkovsky 26, Elegiya). Using choosen cultivars cold acclimation was conducted. Gene expression levels were measured using qPCR method. Ta_TUBA 2-3 gene was chosen as the first to measure the level of expression because of its potential role in cold tolerance. It was found that the level of Ta_TUBA 2-3 gene expression increases in the early stages of cold acclimation inwinter cultivar Demetra and spring cultivar Elegiya and decreases in winter cultivar Mironovsky 808 and spring cultivar Kharkovsky 26. Ta_TUBA 2-3 relative expression level in the later stages of cold acclimation was elevated in all four cultivars. Main differences between spring and winter cultivars were detected in alteration rate of Ta_TUBA 2-3 expression level: winter cultivars show a significantly greater speed of alterations.
