Purpose - to evaluate radioprotective properties of the synthesized compounds created on the basis of S-heteryl modified thiols (S-heteryl modified cysteine). Methods and equipment - radiobiological, hematological, biochemical, spectrophotometric, morphological, statistical. Equipment: X-ray unit RUM-17, universal dosimeter UNІDOS, automated biochemical analyzer Express Plus, microscopes Zeiss "Axіolab", Leica DM 6000B, object-micrometer, analytical balances. Theoretical and practical results - The assessment of radioprotective activity of several novel chemical compounds, namely S-heteryl modified thiols, was carried out on the model of acute radiation injury and resulted into identifying of the radioprotective activity of hydrochloride S-(6-ethoxy-2-methylquinoline-4-il)-cysteamine with the dose reduction factor of 1.82. Theoretical results include the establishing of the mechanisms of hematoprotective activity of hydrochloride S-(6-ethoxy-2-methylquinoline-4-il)-cysteamine via the reduction of radiation-induced apoptosis in bone marrow and rescuing all hematopoietic lineages, as it occurred for erythrocytes, leukocytes and platelets score in blood. Maximum efficiency was determined for the minimum absolute lethal X-ray dose. Other radioprotective effects observed in rodents with acute radiation syndrome included the abrogation of early radiation-related death, normalization of serum enzyme system and the preservation of morphological structure of internal organs. Novelty - The radioprotective activity of hydrochloride S-(6-ethoxy-2-methylquinoline-4-il)-cysteamine was established for the first time. Efficiency - established radioprotective properties of the substance will allow expanding the range of radioprotective agents in the future. Scope (area) of use - radiobiology, radiation protection.
