Grade 9" according to the results of its mastering by students is examined; the designed content correspondence with cognitive abilities of students is determined; formation of subject (biological) competencies components: cognitive, performance, and value ones, among which the cognitive component prevails, is analyzed; under developed vital practical skills and expertise of creative activity are revealed; the need to strengthenaxiologicalorientation of biology content, feasibility of using the empirical method of wildlife cognition, a method of biological object sand phenomena modeling in learning biology, creative approach during implementation of mini-projects are established; conclusions concerning the necessity to combine cognitive, performance, and value components of the curriculum and learning materials are drawn; introduction of tasks focused on working with graphics, tables, results of experiments for studentself-control; attracting students to work in dependently on mini-projects; a pilot training program "Biology. Grades 6-9" is corrected; changes to the criteria for assessment of students' achievements( according to components of the subject competence: cognitive, performance, value ones) that match the productive part of the standard evaluation criteria and curriculum are proposed.
