The performers of the research work analyzed information on the challenges of improving the storage of funds at the present stage, namely the impact of technology on bulk copying - microfilming, digitizing, scanning, etc.- on the state of funds preservation; specified conditions of preservation of rare documents, as well as the document storage features both on traditional and modern media (CD, CDR, DVD, UDO- disks). On the subject of the research work there was created an annotated review of 47 sources of information, containing modern scientific, instructional and teaching materials, international standards, electronic resources. For implementation into practice of the CCR VNLU of new technologies and modern effective materials to restore the structural components of paper documents in the process of preparing them for copying there were carried out the experimental studies of the effect of treatment of paper with various disinfectants on physico-chemical properties and fungal resistance of paper. In order to conduct the stabilization operations there were carried out the applied studies of the performance properties of paper and physical condition of the documents that make up the national heritage of Ukraine. As the result of performed scientific research work were a new database: "Conservation of unique documents of VNLU", which has a two- level structure: a description of storage facilities - at the level of collections (funds) and at the level of individual documents; and also the data bases "Microclimate of the depositories of VNLU" and "Ecological Passport of the Book Depository." Performers of research work pioneered the monitoring of the modern media (CD, CDR, DVD, UDO), stored in VNLU, within the frame of which were specified the types, quantity and conditions of storage thereof. According to the results of research work there were prepared 15 publications. The results of scientific researches have been applied in VNLU and in 5 profile institutions of Ukraine.
