On the basis of generalization of literary sources and the results of many years of research formulated the concept of dominant habitat types and function definitions. It proposed as the dominant habitat type, which performs a key role with respect to the conservation of typical, historically formed, the parameters of the biodiversity of the region. Joined model areas for research and modeling dominant habitat types in the Carpathian Mountains, in the Volyn-Podolia and Western Polesie. To assess the ecological potential of dominant habitat types of mountain territories proposed to use such features edaphotopes as the type of soil formation process, grain size, actual acidity, cation exchange capacity and organic matter content, which determine the structural and functional organization of the soil ecosystem unit in specific circumstances. To evaluate the structural and functional component of the resistance fitobioticheskoy dominant habitat types proposed to use of population-indicator approach using model species populations of indicator species at the example of early spring grass layer synusia (Corydalis solida, Galanthus nivalis, Fritillaria meleagris, Leucojum vernum). The principle of environmental geographic characteristics for species of butterflies, founded by the concept of the environmental pillar of the fauna and improved criteria for assessing the level of ecological and biogeographical types of specialization as a tool for the analysis of biotic diversity in ecosystems (habitats).5481
