The goal of research is to create a model as well as scientifically grounded and tested methods of research of the use of the most recent interactive technologies when teaching the students of non-philological departments profession-oriented communication in a foreign language. To achieve this goal, to analyse the role of a foreign language professional communication competence while mastering the occupation in the higher education establishments, we have been using comprehensive methods that include a system of correlated pedagogical methods of research: 1) theoretical methods - the analysis of scientific linguistic, psychological and pedagogical, methodical literature; 2) empirical methods - attending and analyzing lessons, testing, questioning. Scientific novelty of research is the following: 1) clarified and profound ideas about the essence of "communication-oriented approach", "communicative competence", "interactive technologies of teaching", "personality-oriented teaching"; 2) a theoretically grounded, systematized and experimentally tested technology of forming foreign language professional communication competence of students of non-philological departments as well as techniques and means of its realization in the teaching process using the interactive methods of teaching. The results and findings of this research can be applied in the education process with the aim to raise the level of students' foreign language competence, when making academic programmes and lesson plans, when preparing optional.
