The aim of the study is developing techniques and methods of creation of a new high-quality parent material of durum winter wheat with high grain quality. Sequential creation and introduction into agricultural industry of intensive durum winter wheat varieties with high handling and pasta-making grain quality, stable crop capacity and high adaptive qualities.Methods of the study. Hybridization of durum and soft winter wheat cultivars and form possessing the best adaptive and productive qualities with high-quality durum spring wheat varieties and close tetraploid congeners (T. dicoccoides Koern ex Aschers., T. dicoccum Schuebl., T. turgidum L.) which have outstanding grain quality characteristics, either particular or in complex. Assessment o economic and biological characteristics and properties to select inclusive valuable genotypes of durum winter wheat: winter wheat: morphological and physiological parameters, handling grain quality and statistical analysis. Frost resistance and its component, such as: jarovization period duration (Vrn gene system), photoperiod response (Ppd gene system), morphological and physiological parameters of durum winter wheat which predetermine low temperature and drought tolerance were studied on the obtained parent material. Grain quality was determined using such SDS characteristics as sedimentation, protein and carotinoid content in grain, increased vitreousness and grain hardness. Theoretical and practical results. Introgressive hybridization of durum winter wheat with durum spring wheat extended significantly genotypic variability among the parent material with regard to the grain quality and resistance to common diseases. Genotypes obtained on the basis of the frost- and winter-resistant winter and spring varieties) of this plant with high photoperiodic sensibility appeared to be the best concerning low temperature tolerance in winter. Novelty. New material T. durum Desf. was obtained on the basis of photoperiodic sensitive and neutral durum spring wheat varieties and forms with high grain quality characteristics. Implementation efficiency: durum winter wheat genotypes with high crop capacity and grain quality, tolerance to abiotic and biotic environmental factor were isolated. Eight durum winter wheat varieties: Admiral, Corvette (2012), Areal Odessky, Liner (2013), Prestizhny, Shlyakhetny (2014) and Bliskuchy, Yaskravy (2015) were submitted for the state cultivar testing in 2011-2015. Aqueduct, Prozory for 2014 and Areal Odessky for 2016 were put on the Cultivar Register of Ukraine. Among 20 durum winter wheat varieties put on the Cultivar Register of Ukraine 16 or 80% were bred in SGI-NSSC: Aliy parus, Argonavt, Areal Odessky and Perlina Odessakaya for growing in the steppe zone; Bosfor, Burshtin, Gardemarin, Zolote runo, Kontinent, Kreiser, Laguna, Linkor and Tаvridа for the steppe and forest-steppe zones; Aqueduct, Gavan and Prozory for the forest-steppe zone of Ukraine. New cultivars are characterized with tolerance to abiotic and biotic environmental factor, high crop capacity and excellent grain quality characteristics. Seed growing and implementation in the farms in the steppe the forest-steppe zones of Ukraine began. The area under durum wheat cultivars is up to 100 thousand hectares. The economical efficiency can be up to UAH 12 thousand per 1 ha if the optimal high-quality grain durum winter wheat growing technologies are used.Scope of use – bulghur, couscous, pasta, cereals and bakery.
