Structural and functional diversity of extremophilic microorganisms in the low-temperature West Antarctic habitats, soil subtropical desert (Israel), in mountain ecosystems (Bulgaria), hypersaline habitats in the Crimea and the Dead Sea (Israel), deep-water sediments of the Black Sea (Ukraine), in the highlands of Ecuador habitats have been studied. Among the isolates were found psyhro- and thermotolerant extremophiles, which are resistant to UV radiation and dehydration, to hypertonic or anaerobic conditions of existence, and multidrug-resistant to toxic metals. The theoretical bases of biotechnology wastewater from environmentally hazardous substances, and the use of extremophiles for alternative energy sources have been developed5481
