The purpose of developing a scientific basis for the sustainability of road trains in extreme driving modes by selecting the rational parameters of the tractor vehicle and of modules of hook-on links. Methods of research included mathematical modeling of the movement of trains, multiple calculations of sustainability indicators at different values of constructive and layout parameters, operational factors. The subject of the research the influence of design parameters of the tractor vehicle, the trailer on the lorry convoy stability in extreme flow regimes.
