Developed a method of creating core collections of watermelon and melon with the use of multivariate statistics, which allows to extract the basic collections of varieties-standards for the studied traits. Obtained a patent for a method of forming core collections of watermelon and melon. Based on the fact that carry out sampling which were assessed by the combination of features from the basic collection, with the help of cluster analysis allocates them into groups of affinity of these signs, defining the class-a standards for each cluster and sorts with high factor hierarchy, which are part of Serafina collection on the studied traits. Formed and submitted for registration in NCGRO core collection watermelon and melon. Core collection of watermelon (No. 000345 request, 06.11.2015) generated from 52 samples of watermelon table 30 morphological and agronomic traits, which occur from 5 countries. Core collection of melon (No. 00350 request, 25.11.2015) generated from 52 samples of melon on 29 morphological and economic-valuable traits that occur from 12 countries. Written methodical recommendations on the formation of core collections melons. For the past five years introduced 60 samples of melons: 20 – watermelon 11 - watermelon, 13 – pumpkin 8 zucchini, 3 squash, 1 – trigonant, 1 – lagenaria. Selected sources and donors of valuable traits: watermelon – 30, melon – 25, pumpkin – 7 zucchini – 5, squash – 3. When creating new varieties and lines were used 40 samples from the collection of vine plants
