The purpose of research was, basing on analysis of international legal acts, national legislation and its application in Ukraine, the European Union, the United States and other countries, to explore current issues of international law and national regulation of information relations and problems of the digital environment, and to identify how to develop the information society (IS) in Ukraine and integrate into the global information society. The result of research was generalization of international and national experience on issues of improving legal regulation of relations related to the functioning of information society, legal principles of functioning of the global information society, the main trends of the modern information society and information law, information society of Ukraine (organizational and components -legal principles of operation and development), in particular: legal regulation of information relations as the main component of IS, legal regulation of the electronic government, public services in IS, information resources, legal regulation of intellectual property as an important part of IS, legal regulation of the field of information safety, identify ways of development of information society in Ukraine and integration into the European and world IS, regulation of the most important part of IS - the Internet, protection of human rights in the digital environment, overcoming piracy and protecting intellectual property rights in cyberspace.
