Conditions of stability with respect to nonlinear approximation are obtained and new methods are proposed for construction of Lyapunov functions for impulsive systems in critical cases. The results are applied to study the mechanisms of stability loss of the equilibrium states. Conditions are specified for limiting cycles existence as a result of closure of symmetric trajectory in three-dimensional system. It is found out that the mechanism of orbital stability loss depends on the field topology of the system in variations.
