It has been established that the conduct of pre-standard heat treatment of the alloy affects the range of physical and mechanical properties of the surface layers (the level of the surface hardening, surface structure) after combined treatment and requires clarification of its parameters. It is shown that the best tribological properties (wear rate, wear resistance, coefficient of friction, the temperature in the vicinity of the friction zone) has a pair of friction " VT22 alloy – 10-4-4 Bronze" where the alloy strain-hardened diffusion to the following regime: running-in under load 200 H by 11 passes followed by a second stage nitriding standard thermal treatment.
