The historical comparative, systematic, structural, and functional methods were used. The distinguished structural features of contemporary encyclopedias were highlighted. The research work in 2016 was summarized in the analytical materials on methodological principles of the modern Great Ukrainian Encyclopedia (GUE). The study aims to develop scientific conceptual basis of the content and form of bibliographic database volumes 2 and 3 of the Great Ukrainian Encyclopedia. Realization of this goal will enable the well to attract potential Ukrainian intellectuals to creation VUE, will promote research and improve education in Ukraine, promotion of modern knowledge among the general public.
