But harmonic are basis functions only of the Serendipity bilinear finite elements (SFE). First the library of a harmonic basis for these elements were added by the bases, which built in the form of the infinite series, obtained from the solution of the Dirichlet problem using the Fourier method. Practical testing of these bases not only confirmed their positive qualities, but also revealed some shortcomings. Thus, in particular when using the partial sums of a trigonometric series greatly increases the run time of calculations according to FEM, compared with using conventional polynomial bases for the FE of the same order. So important is the construction and study of the properties of the basic functions for SFE which found using these methods for the approximate solution of the Dirichlet problem, which lead to the solutions with polynomial structure.
