Objective: the study of synchronization and chaotic dynamics for a wide range of nonlinear evolutionary processes in systems of coupled oscillators of diverse nature and research of optimal modes of operation for applications in neural networks. Research methods: qualitative and numerical analytical methods for the analysis of nonlinear mathematical models, applications of the theory of dynamical systems to the study of stability and synchronization of solutions, application of bifurcation theory to the study of the solution properties and its dependence on parameters. New fundamental results on mathematical modeling of nonlinear systems are obtained, including the conditions of existence and stability of different types of solutions and their bifurcations. The main focus was devoted to the study of general mathematical laws of partial synchronization phenomena, i.e. chimera states, playing a key role in a wide range of problems from physics, chemistry, biology, medicine and social sciences.
