The object of research: phraseological units with somatic component of the German language. The subject of research: structural-semantic, semantic-cognitive and pragmatic-functional concept characteristics, represented by the phraseological units with somatic component. The purpose: complex and systematic study of the chosen problematics. Research methods: The general scientific base of the research is the anthropocentric concept, according to which the subjective cause plays the determining role in all spheres of human activity. The specific scientific base is the functional approach to the linguistic objects' analysis, which allows us to combine the postulates of structural linguistics with cognitive and communicative principles in phraseological research successfully. According to the fundamentals of this approach, the functional aim of a linguistic unit affects the processes of forming its shape and meaning. The research tasks are solved by applying a number of methods. The inductive method is successfully used at all stages of work. According to this method, the research is conducted in the way "from direct material analysis to generalizations and conclusions". The method of word-formative modeling was perceived as means to determine the creation of phraseological units and corpus regulation of others. The method of dictionary definitions and the component analysis method, related to it, are used to set dictionary meaning of the phraseological units. The language material analysis is conducted in terms of conceptual metaphors (R. Jackendoff, J. Lakoff) and metonymies (Z. K?vecses, G. Radden, K.-U. Panther, V. Evans, M. Green) as well as applying the method of conceptual modeling of the updated meaning of phraseological units (D.O. Dobrovolskiy, S.A. Zhabotynska), which is aimed at determining cognitive mechanisms of shaping the researched units' meaning. The method of framing modeling is used to schematize the obtained data. The interpretational method is applied to render the meaning of the analyzed units in the complexity of their discoursive links and references. The results and their novelty: The research represents theoretical foundation of the scientific problem, the purpose of which lies in the establishment of structural-semantic, cognitive and functional-pragmatic characteristics of concepts, expressed in phraseological units with somatic component of the German language. The research is conducted in the course of the newest accomplishments in domestic and foreign phraseology. The analysis of phraseological units with somatic component was stimulated by the fact that, despite a large number of works, dedicated to the somatic phraseology research, some controversial questions have not been thoroughly illuminated in scientific discourse. It was determined that the somatic cultural code is the universal modeling microsystem, which allows us to penetrate the enclosed mentality sphere and show the nationally marked features. Human body is the universal informational code, which contains both archetypal and novice information. It was confirmed that lexical-semantical somatic group represents the productive group in the phraseology. Phraseological units with somatic components constitute about 30% (2059 units) of the phraseological component of the German language. The detailed classification of all phraseological units with somatic components was created (we were primarily interested in the active somatic phraseological units), based on the 12 suggested statements, which regulate the researched somatic vocabulary. It was discovered that definitions of the visible body parts should become subjects of comprehension in phraseological terms to the full extent. The characteristics of the research results. The research of the phraseological units with somatic component is based on the material of lexicographical sources and a number of text paragraphs of the three types of discourse: advertising (pharmaceutical), political (political quotations texts) and magical (astrological forecast texts). The key concepts are distinguished, in which the somatic code of culture is accumulated, given the proper discoursive environment. Having studied the factual material, we can now state that concepts (metachtonic, autochthonic and allochtonic) practically confirm and characterize the text fragments, which enabled us to create a cognitive map of the researched types of discourse. The features of coding and decoding information processes were researched in the light of cognitive-discoursive paradigm. We took scientific interest in the somatic neophrasemics, phraseological units with somatic component becoming its subject, the analysis of its usage in the language, and the structuration of phraseology-forming models and mechanisms while creating principles of phraseological neologic. Major extralinguistic aspects of phraseological units' emerging are distinguished. There is a certain concept hidden behind every part of the new phraseological unit, its phrasal-forming structure allowing to establish connections between the conceptual aspects of frame and determine their informative meaning accordingly. The major phraseological forming mechanisms of neologisation of the German somatic phraseology were analyzed, which are: metaphorization, metonymization, symbolization and modern derivational processes. The results of the conducted research are as follows: distinguishing 4 spheres, where metonymical projections take place; 6 symbols, which are topical for the modern German society; the productivity of modification process, which serves as a source of the actual concepts of today. The application of results and productions in the study process. Based on the obtained material, the complexes of methodic supply were improved for the following disciplines: "Lexicology", "The Comparative Typology of the Ukrainian and German language", "Theory and Practice of Oral and Written Translation", "Country Studies". Key words: phraseological unit with the somatic component, somatism, key word, somatic culture code, conceptualization, concept, somatic neophrasemics, conceptual projection.
