During the reporting period, the academic staff of the Ukrainian Language and Literature Teaching Department (subdivision of literature training) worked on implementing the tasks of the search and module phase of the study on "Scientific and methodological support of training Ukrainian literature at high school". The study is applied. During the reporting period, the major achievements were the following: monitoring of the process of learning Ukrainian literature to determine the quality of existing scientific and methodological support, the results of which showed partial inconsistency with the set objectives of the educational sector "Language and Literature" of the State standard of basic and complete General secondary education, innovative social, cultural and educational challenges. The study of organizational, psycho-pedagogical, scientific-methodical, objective and subjective conditions that influence the effectiveness of training literature, gave grounds for the conclusion that the most important factor is the level of professional and psychological readiness of the teacher of Russian language and literature to the implementation of the urgent tasks of our time. Difficulties in understanding teachers’ in the essence of modern standards to literary education, stereotyping views on the role of the textbook in the development of competent student-reader, the dominance of the "traditional" methods, types, forms of work with educational book were considered. The piecemeal treatment of teachers-philologists to the methodology of student-centered and competence-based learning was revealed. The need to enhance the level of training teachers-philologists to the implementation of the ideas of student-centered and competence-based approaches in teaching Ukrainian literature was recognized. The concept of Ukrainian literature textbook for grade 10 (basic level), which implements the idea of student-centered and competence-based learning was created. The content and the structure of the methodology of Ukrainian literature textbook for grade 10 were determined. A list of assessment criteria according to the textbook principles of student-centered and competency-based training was provided. An innovative scientific and methodological support, which contains a tutorial and a textbook in Ukrainian literature grade 10 (basic level) was developed and experimentally tested. A list of effective methods, techniques, types, forms of work, which ensure the effective mastering of a teaching material for literature: interactive learning, technology, reading and writing for development of critical thinking, project-based learning, situated learning, etc.; was developed and experimentally tested. The questionnaires were prepared and the survey of 10th grade students and teachers-philologists were conducted to determine the degree of implementation of the Ukrainian literature textbook ideas student-centered and competence-based learning; the results of the survey, which confirmed the need for the development of training and methodological support on the basis of competence, personality-oriented and activity approaches.) were summarized. The total number of works on the subject of the study is 30; they include 21 articles, 5 abstracts, 4 methodological recommendations.
