Theoretical and practical results - the performed microcalorimetric studies of the interaction of short-chain surfactants with the surface of vermiculite have shown that the heat of sorption is determined by two types of interaction. For low coverages the main mechanism is ion exchange, while for higher coverages this factor is complemented by the interaction between the hydrocarbon chains. From the ab initio calculations the energetic and structural characteristics of microclusters formed by the hydration of molecular ions in the water solution, and by the hydration of complex formed by the interaction of these molecular ions in the solution and subsequently sorbed at the surface of layer silicate are determined. Novelty - for the first time the characteristic features of the behaviour of studied systems during the adsorption on the surface of layer silicate. Field of use - environment protection.
