Analysis of the technical state of hydraulic units of HPP Dnieper cascade and identified requirements and technical conditions for the modernization of water turbines are shown. The study have been conducted using the software package IPMFlow. The numerical study of three-dimensional flow of an incompressible viscous fluid in the flow of the hydraulic turbine PL20 Kremenchug HPP at the optimum and maximum angle of the blade installation and 10 discoveries guide vanes have been carried. The analysis of the structure and flow of hydraulic losses in the flow part elements in a wide range of operating conditions is developed. The results can be applied in the design of the new flow for the modernization of the Dnieper cascade of water turbines
