The occurrence of defects is due the processes of crystallization of continuous cast ingots, which, even when pouring pure, on the contents of gases and harmful impurities, steel are accompanied by the development of macro- and microsurgery. In the course of operation, the appearance of contact-fatigue defects and triggering of the head of the rails often result in premature failure of them. Investigations of VNIDIZT found that the viscosity of destruction from wear is primarily influenced by the form of non-metallic inclusions, their size and the nature of the distribution in steel. Comprehensive measures applied to improve the quality of railways due to improved technology of their production (smelting, smelting, pouring and heat treatment of metal, aimed at ensuring a rational structure of finished products) do not lead to the desired result. The reason for this is the inherent metal casting of the MNLZ, from which the rolling stock is obtained, the rough hereditary chemical and structural heterogeneity, which reduces the plasticity of the rail metal and its level of physical and mechanical properties and weldability.
