The purpose of the research - to develop recommendations for the optimal reorganization of the banking system of Ukraine based on the study of the state and trends of the reform and development of banking systems in the world. Methods of research: analysis, synthesis, scientific abstraction (with clarification of the conceptual provisions of the organization of the functioning and development of banking systems of countries of the world; definition of concepts); comparative, statistical analysis, logical generalization and grouping (in the classification of models for the formation of the institutional structure of banking systems, methods and tools for supervision and regulation of banking activities, assessment of competition in the markets of banking services of the EU and Ukraine. The scientific novelty of the obtained results consists in solving the scientific problem of the development and scientific substantiation of recommendations for optimal reorganization of the banking system of Ukraine on the basis of studying the state and trends of the reform and development of banking systems of the countries of the world.The results of the study were published in 9 articles and published at 5 international and all-Ukrainian scientific-practical conferences, as well as implemented in the educational process of the Institute of Banking Technologies and Business of the School of Business Administration "University of Banking" in the teaching of disciplines "Global Economy", "European Values" , "Payment Systems", "Information Technologies in Banking Management" (Act dated November 30, 2015).
