The paper is concerned with an analytic algorithm for calculating the destruction characteristics of plates and shells in the deterministic and statistical formulation. A new discrete-structural model of multilayer shell deformation is constructed. The methodology for conducting experimental research is created. The obtained statistical laws of destruction processes of plates and shells, weakened by random cracks. The influence of the interlayer defects in material structure on the bearing capacity of multilayer shells and plates is determined. Experimental investigations and comparative analysis of the obtained data with theoretical results are carried out. The parameters of rational constructions and design recommendations for new constructions are determined. The statistical characteristics of materials are obtained.
