The planned theme of the Department of Musicology and Ethnomusicology "Ukrainian Music: Historical, Theoretical and Cultural Discourse" is a comprehensive study, summarizing innovative developments in the form of an 8-volume academic "Ukrainian Music Encyclopedia" (Vol., Letter "P"), the 7-volume Academic Fundamental works "History of Ukrainian Music" (Volume IV), collective and a series of individual monographs, 2 collections "Musical Ukrainian Studies: Modern Dimension", etc .; fills the existing numerous gaps. Along with the filling of "white spots", the theme's implementation allowed to create an objective panorama of Ukrainian musical culture. For example, the period 1930-1941 in Soviet times was considered in the panegyric key, and in the era of Independence - in a sharp negative. The implementation of the topic allowed to give an objective (negative-positive) definition and comprehensive historical, theoretical and cultural coverage of the history of Ukrainian music of the period. All this brings Ukrainian musicology to a new, qualitatively higher level.
