The object of research - the process of using wood biomass. The aim of the work is to conduct an economic and en-vironmental assessment of the use of wood biomass as an alternative source of energy. The research methods are theoretical and historical generalization, grouping and comparison, observation, formalization, analysis, synthesis, economic-mathematical and correlation methods. As a result of the carried out research, the following results were obtained: the current state and features of the use of wood biomass, as well as the prospects of forest resources development and the problem of their rational use are determined. The generalized scientific result of the work is the development of scientific and practical recommendations on ways to increase the rational use of woody biomass in Ukraine.
