The effect of carbon deposits on the performance of diesel engines of diesel locomotives was studied. Based on the analysis of the mechanisms of formation and accumulation of carbon deposits on the details and elements of diesel systems, the technology of CIP, fuel equipment and cylinder-piston group of diesel locomotives with the use of a special washing liquid has been developed. A conclusion is made about the possibility of making changes in the maintenance technology and increasing the inter-repair runs of locomotives
