Purpose: Improvement of tribotechnical characteristics of two-point contact of the "wheel-rail" system by activating surfaces. The global experience of methods of increasing the coefficient of clutch and reducing wear of wheel pairs has been analyzed, their classification with new and perspective methods has been supplemented, advantages and disadvantages have been determined. Using the intellectual method of decision-making support in the form of expert appraisal, promising methods for increasing the coefficient of clutch and reducing wear of the wheel comb. Among the three most promising methods of increasing the coefficient of adhesion of the wheel with the rail includes the method of passing electric current through the contact zone, and the three most promising methods for reducing the wear of the wheel comb - the method of supplying the ozonized air flow to the tribocontact.
