The present project is directed toward 2 main objectives: 1) developing novel high-performance nanomaterials through the synthesis of densely crosslinked copolymer networks and interpenetrating polymer networks (IPNs) of Cyanate Ester Resins (CERs), Benzoxazines (BOAs), Bismaleimides (BMIs), and possibly Bisphthalonitriles (BPhNs), in different combinations, and creation of dual nanoheterogeneity in the materials by nanopore generation and filling with inorganic nanoparticles, and2) engineering high-temperature resistant nanofibers by electrospinning of precursors of CERs, BOAs, BMIs,and possibly BPhNs as well as co-electrospinning of related mixtures with engineering thermoplastics.
