The problem of expanding the possibilities of generalizing sensory data is addressed, which facilitates making control decisions in situations that are not inherent in the design of the system. The approach of obtaining knowledge from sensory data in the form of abstract categories of different level of generalization is proposed. The method of representing sensory data with abstract knowledge is formalized in the form of a multi-level model of fuzzy granular computing. This allowed us to implement a decision-making process that is inherent in humans based on the generalization and categorization of sensory data. The approach is embodied in the method of developing IIoT applications, and in the new Smart Rules Engine pattern. The proposed methods and models have been tested in several practical applications in embedded systems such as cognitive robots and intelligent machines.
