The purpose of the study - further development the scientific, theoretical and methodological foundations of graphic and figurative competence development of the person during classes in the cycle of artistic disciplines (artistic graphics, artistic paper processing, design, tapestry, artistic painting of fabrics, artistic modeling of clothing, computer graphics, prints, sculpture , ceramics, jewelry, techniques of art education, pedagogical drawing, educational and creative practice) in the process of professional training of future teachers of fine arts and crafts with additional specializations. To achieve the purpose and verify the working hypotheses the following tasks have been solved: - On the basis of the analysis of theoretical and empirical research, create an experimental model of graphic and figurative competence development of future teachers of fine arts. - Conduct a search experiment on the definition of modern methodological technologies, which provide ways to implement the development of graphic and figurative competence. - Elaborate of criteria of determining the qualitative level of graphical and figurative competence formation at different stages of students studying. Construct the cross subject complex of educational and methodical tasks, aimed at improving the process of forming of graphic and figurative competence. - Systematize the theoretical and empirical materials of research, improve and correct the model of graphic and figurative competence. Research methods: Theoretical: analysis of scientific and methodological literature, scientific work of our country and foreign scientists; logical and systematical comparative analysis; empirical (observation, testing, interviews, conversation); statistical processing of data and their qualitative analysis. Theoretical and practical results: The psychological and pedagogical potential of graphic and figurative competence development of students - future teachers of fine arts has been determined and theoretically substantiated. The main artistic creative properties of the future teacher of fine arts have been specified and described. The methodology and educational-software materials for diagnosing the levels of formation of graphic and figurative competence of the future teacher of fine arts have been developed and improved. The structural and functional model of the process of formation and development of graphic and figurative competence has been improved. Received scientific-pedagogical results of the research have been printed and illuminated in scientific-practical conferences, professional editions, monographs. Novelty: The psychological and pedagogical principles of the graphic and figurative competence development of future teachers of fine arts give us the initial preconditions for further analysis of this complex and multidimensional phenomenon, where still a lot of unresolved issues remain. First of all, it concerns the essence of the content of the most basic concepts, which are interpreted quite differently: sometimes contradictory, which makes relevant and appropriate further conduct of both theoretical and methodological research in the study of this sphere of psychological and pedagogical knowledge.
