Research project description. The research is a topical one as there is an objective necessity to reform, democratise and improve the quality of education in Ukraine, and it should be based on the national historical and cultural values, traditions and customs and be realised in the context of civil society formation and integration of Ukraine into the world and European Community. The optimisation of providing scientific information support to the educational system will offer an opportunity to researchers and pedagogues to use bibliographic, abstract and analytical information; it will result in reduced expenditure of time and effort while working with various sources in order to find necessary information. The main aims of the research are to obtain scientific and applied results, in particular to analyse source and historiographical base regarding education in Ukraine and abroad, summarise current issues on the development of education abroad, and determine the nature and content of educational reform in Ukraine. The research work was focused on the study of user information needs regarding education in Ukraine and abroad, the level of assisting users in meeting their needs for bibliographic, abstract and analytical information at V.O. Sukhomlynskyi SSPL of Ukraine, and providing scientific information support through the disclosure of the current state of the research concerning the national and foreign education, especially in the context of education reform and innovation strategy. The following products were prepared and made public in the course of this research work: two issues of reference book, analytical, abstract and bibliographic papers on education in Ukraine and abroad. The strategies of V.O. Sukhomlynskyi SSPL of Ukraine regarding the improvement of providing scientific information support to the national education are determined. The following empirical and theoretical methods of sociohumanitarian and sociocommunicative sciences were used: observation, modeling, abstraction, prediction, document analysis and synthesis, monitoring of document flow, and others. At the main stage of the research work the library scientists studied the strategies for education reform and innovation in Ukraine and abroad, analysed the national and foreign practices re integration into European and world educational space, and revealed innovation education vectors by means of bibliometric research. It is proved that at present the leading factor in the development of scientific communication is accessibility and quality of information that can be taken from as much as possible sources. As the available scientific information content increases, the scientists face the problem of orientation in information sources suitable for use in the process of achieving research mission. It is grounded that the main task of modern scientific pedagogical libraries is to prepare information materials on the development of education in Ukraine and abroad, as there is a need to optimise the system of providing scientific information support to the educational sphere in the course of integration of Ukraine into European and world educational space. A set of bibliographic, abstract and analytical materials on current problems in the sphere of pedagogy and psychology of education was developed in order to modernise scientific information activity of education libraries. The development of Periodicals database and e-catalogue abstract database was carried out through corporate relations with institutions of the system of education libraries under the NAES of Ukraine.
