Ecological trophic groups of microorganisms were isolated from the waste heaps of coal pits of Chervonograd mining region and from Yavorivske Lake water, and their quantity was investigated. It has been established that sulfidogenic microbial community and actinobacteria actively transform carbon, sulfur, nitrogen and metal compounds in technogenically altered ecotops. It has been shown for the first time that due to the resistance to metal compounds and the ability to transform a wide range of pollutants isolated by us bacteria strains of Desulfuromusa, Geobacter, Desulfomicrobium, Desulfuromonas, Desulfovibrio genera are promising for use in biotechnologies for environment remediation and generation of electricity.
