The average external radiation dose was 0.187 Gy for adults, and thyroid radiation dose was within 0.1-1.55 Gy in children. Verified clinical data were obtained during the examination of persons in outpatient or inpatient settings. Objective: to investigate the clinical and functional features of the course of non-malignant endocrine disease in the Chernobyl NPP accident consequences clean-up workers of a young age in comparison with those exposed to ionizing radiation in adolescence. Study methods: generally accepted clinical, anthropometric (body weight, height, thigh volume, body mass index), instrumental (thyroid and parathyroid ultrasound scan), laboratory (biochemical, hormonal) data, statistical. Results. State of the endocrine system was clarified in the young participants of the Chernobyl accident recovery works, the age features of non-malignant endocrine disease were determined. For the first time the condition of the parathyroid glands was assayed in the children and adults survived after the ChNPP accident. The incidece of carbohydrate metabolic disorders in the ChNPP clean-up workers irradiated at a young age in the 24 post-accidental years (1992-2015), including young and middle aged, demonstrates a probable increase in pre-diabetes / type 2 diabetes predominantly in the "iodine period" clean-up workers in 1986 (up to 16.05%), the "non-iodine" period of 1986-1987 (up to 15.08%) and 1988-1990 (up 11.11%). These data significantly exceed the type 2 diabetes incidence in the general population of Ukraine (3-9%; p ? 0.05). For the first time, an increase in the incidence of clinically significant parathyroid hyperplasia was found in the exposed adults as a result of the Chernobyl catastrophe and their descendants, especially those living in contaminated territories. The age feature of the young ChNPP clean-up workers is the relative incidence of type 2 diabetes, nodular goiter, hypothyroidism and osteopenic syndrome being significantly higher, and type 1 diabetes, diffuse goiter and thyrotoxicosis significantly lower in comparison with individuals exposed to ionizing radiation at the age of 10-17 years. For the first time, it has been shown that type 2 diabetes in the ChNPP accident clean-up workers exposed at a young age is characterized by severe disorders of carbohydrate metabolism along with multiple microvascular complications characterized by a significant increase in serum creatinine conteent and a decrease in glomerular filtration rate, indicating the early development of diabetic nephropathy. The age peculiarity of the descendants of irradiated persons is a period of puberty development, when 55.3% of neuroendocrine disorders of the hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid system are found. In the future that leads to hyperstimulation of peripheral endocrine organs. In the study of 25 (OH) D in serum, its low level (17.2 ± 3.26 nmol/L) has been found, indicating a lack of its consumption. Methodological approaches to the diagnosis and correction of detected endocrine disorders, taking into account the peculiarities of their course, are optimized, which can be used in the event of a radiation accident or threat, aimed at minimizing the effects of ionizing radiation on thyroid, pancreatic and parathyroid glands. There were published 86 scientific works, namely 1 monograph, 24 articles, 1 patent for utility model, 23 sections of monographs, 39 theses of conferences (of which 3 are abroad) were published. The scope of application is radiation medicine, clinical endocrinology.
