Purpose of the study – workability check and adjustment of the domestic diesel-gas system, reduction of diesel fuel consumption by partial replacement of diesel fuel with compressed natural gas and definition of fuel-economic and environmental indicators of a vehicle when working on diesel and diesel-gas cycles. Method of the study – an analysis of existing constructions of diesel-gas engines, experimental tests of a car with a diesel engine with a microprocessor diesel-gas fuel system. The versatile diesel-gas microprocessor fuel system for medium-power diesel engines is developed that allows you to work in diesel and diesel-gas cycles. The fuel system ensures the operation of diesel engines of vehicles on a mixture of diesel fuel and compressed natural gas in the diesel-gas cycle, with the saving of a standard fuel system. Road tests on GAZ-3309 with diesel D-245.7, converted for diesel and diesel-gas cycles, have been conducted. The substitution of diesel fuel with compressed natural gas during the research ranged from 57 to 74%, which allows to significantly reduce the consumption of traditional diesel fuel by diesel vehicles.
