Subject of research - regularities of the tribosystem elements wear mechanism and the physical and mechanical properties of modified surface layers. The purpose of the work - to create the scientific and technological foundations for increasing the trybosystems efficiency through the development of the combined technologies of friction pairs elements surface strengthening. Methods of research - metallographic methods, methods of X-ray and X-ray spectral analysis, methods of engineering mechanics and tribodiagnostics, methods of multi-factor planning of the experiment and mathematical statistics. The causes and nature of the destruction of friction units working surfaces in various conditions of contact interaction are established. The regularities that connect the tribotechnical characteristics of the coatings with the technological and structural factors and the stress-strain state are established. Such the models are developed: frictional interaction of tribosystem elements in friction-wear conditions with limited supply of lubricating material to the contact zone, which, unlike the existing one, takes into account the structural and technological parameters of the discrete area and the possibility of removing wear products from the contact zone, preventing their action as abrasive material; temperature and power load, as well as mathematical models that describe the dependence of friction surfaces wear from technological and operational factors. The concept of the creation the combined technologies of surface engineering is proposed, according to which the architecture of a multi-layer composite coating should be based on a three-element system.
