(20 trees each) in the Dnieper Steppe was studied using molecular genetic analysis using DNA markers (microsatellites and β-tubulin gene intron polymorphism - TBP). As a result of the analysis, features of the genetic structure of populations and differences in individual genetic loci were revealed. The smallest values of the indicators characterizing the genetic polymorphism of U. pumila, both in microsatellite loci and in TBP markers, are characteristic of trees that grow in the countryside (plot PP2) compared to trees that grow in the city (sections PP3 and PP4). The observed heterozygosity for these types of genetic markers in all areas was significantly lower than expected due to an excess of homozygous genotypes. In general, it was found that in most of the studied loci, U. pumila is characterized by a relatively low level of genetic variation. As a result of cytogenetic studies, it was found that tree populations of U. pumila differ in terms of embryonic death (ES) and seed viability. It was established that the indicators characterizing embryonic death vary from 10.4% to 43.9% and correlate with the age of the trees and, probably, with their genetic traits.
