Grishka NAS of Ukraine popup.description2  Plant extracts and bioactive substances (BAS) of natural origin possess high biological activity and low toxicity, that causes their widespread use in cosmetic, pharmaceutical and food industries. Nowadays, a half of all medical drugs, dietary supplements and herbal medicines is produced from natural sources, so the search for plants with high content of BAS, development of biotechnologies for the production of BAS of natural origin and creation of the composites that provide the most effective use of BAS are of great importance. The work Purpose: study of the collections of tropical orchids and the identification of the plants with the highest BAS content; development of the procedures of in vitro cultivation of valuable species; development of the drugs prototypes on the basis of plants extracts, nanosized silica and gelatin biopolymer. The extracts were prepared from the leaves of the plants, silica and gelatin were used as auxiliary components for composites synthesis. The studies were performed using spectrophotometric, chromatographic, quantum-chemical, anatomic-morphological, physiological-biochemical and biotechnological methods. Screening of the collection has identified some species of orchids that contain a significant amount of BAS and possess high antioxidant properties. Phenolic acids and flavonoids were shown to be major components of the extracts. Sterile cultures of selected species were obtained and protocols for in vitro cultivation were developed. Two types of composite materials with antioxidant properties were prepared. The interaction of the extracts components with silica surface and with gelatin molecules was studied. It has been shown that the materials composed of silica and orchid extracts provide enhanced stability of BAS during storage and the prolonged desorption of several BAS, while the materials based on extracts, silica and gelatin ensure gradual release of all the extracts components.
