The basic scientific and applied principles of GHG emission reduction policy implementation in Ukraine in the context of updating the problem of climate change in the European and global political agenda were formulated based on the tracked evolution of theoretical concepts of the study of the impact of climate factor on economic development, the proposed definition of the concept of low-carbon development, as well as an analytical generalization of the conditions and consequences of the transition to a low-carbon development model. In particular, it is substantiated that in practical terms, the goals of low-carbon development policy in Ukraine should be: ensuring the integration of environmental policy into the decision-making process regarding the socio-economic development of Ukraine; reduction of environmental risks in order to minimize their impact on ecosystems, socio-economic development and public health; formation of environmental values ??in society; ensuring sustainable development of the natural resource potential of Ukraine; improvement and development of the state system of environmental management.
