The use of known patterns regarding the directional formation of a foam coke layer, which corresponds to the given properties of the fire protection composition, has made it possible to establish the peculiarities of inhibition of the process of heat transfer to a material treated with a fire retardant impregnating composition consisting in several aspects, namely, the decomposition of fire retardants under the action of temperature with absorption of heat and the release of non-combustible gases, inhibition of oxidation in the gas and condensed phases and the formation of a coke on a surface of wood, a heat-protected layer of coke.
