The aim of the study was to create a scientifically valid model of teaching Ukrainian literature in secondary school with due attention to its general didactic and methodological-literary parameters; it also aimed at using the forms of literary analysis as the key factor in model construction. The object of study is the process of modelling Ukrainian literature teaching in secondary school. Methods of study include: - theoretical methods: analysis of academic sources that address the methodology of literature teaching and its general didactic foundations; synthesis of obtained information; model construction; - empirical methods: observation of the learning process in secondary school; learning experiment. The theoretical results consist in describing the scientific basis for the modelling of the process of Ukrainian literature teaching. They also include an explanation of how to create and use a system of elements that is instrumental for a literature teacher. The practical results consist in the construction of an independent model of the learning process which can be implemented in secondary schools of different types. The recommendations provided can be of use for literature teachers as they organise learning situations, structure learning stages, and model lessons as the main form of learning. The novelty of the study consists in establishing connections between the forms of literary analysis and the methodological and literary elements of the structure of learning process; this provides the basis for modelling literature lessons of various types.
