As a result of the work, a recombinant S. aureus seryl-tRNA synthetase (SerRS) was obtained. 52 compounds selected according to molecular docking results, were tested for inhibitory activity toward S. aureus SerRS. Among them, three compounds inhibiting SerRS by 25% were identified. These compounds possess antibacterial activity against methicillin resisistant S. aureus strain ATCC43300. The molecular dynamics of the complexes of the most effective inhibitors with the active site of S. aureus SerRS was performed. The structures of these hit compounds will be further used for chemical optimization to find more active inhibitors of S. aureus SerRS.
