The object of the study is the undergraduate preparation of future interpreters and teachers of English for professional activity in a multicultural society, and the subject is interactive and innovative teaching approaches. In order to determine the theoretical foundations of the modernization of foreign language education in higher education institutions, the method of analysis and generalization of literary sources, methods of teaching a foreign language was used. In order to identify the level of students' proficiency in English, survey methods and purposeful pedagogical observation of the learning process were applied, the effectiveness of modern methods of teaching a foreign language in high school was determined by the method of pedagogical experiment, generalization, qualitative and quantitative analysis of experimental results.
