Subject: Patterns that establish the relationship between the structure-phase composition and the physico-mechanical properties of the functional surfaces of friction components and their tribotechnical characteristics. The aim is to develop scientific principles of durability management and to create innovative surface engineering technologies based on them to increase the durability of functional surfaces of aviation tribomechanical systems parts. Research methods: chemical analysis, microhardness measurement, metallographic and X-ray structural analysis, tribotechnical properties study. The laws of influence of chemical, structural-phase composition, physical-mechanical characteristics and schemes of construction of surface-modified layers and protective coatings on tribotechnical properties of functional surfaces formed by different methods were experimentally established and the general structural-physical principles of controlling their wear resistance were determined. The composition of a high-temperature composite alloy of matrix-filled type was obtained, in which nickel doped with iron, aluminum and chromium is the matrix and the grains of titanium carbide are the strengthening phase. The technology of chemical-thermal treatment for the regulated surface hardening of parts made of high-strength two-phase titanium alloys of aviation purpose is developed. An analytical-calculated model of the destruction of surface layers has been developed, which allows to predict with high accuracy the wear and to evaluate the wear resistance of materials of friction pairs. Bench tests of the developed materials and technologies were carried out. The introduction of these technologies allows to reduce the costs of production, and to increase the reliability and durability of the strengthened and restored parts of the friction units at the enterprises.
