According to this methodology, models are constructed by sequential decomposition of a top-level functional model, which improves the quality of generalization and systematization of the system of phenomena by describing the relationships at each level of detail of the model. The following approaches are used for research: systemic, aspectual, conceptual, empirical and scientific. The systematic approach additionally takes into account diffusion processes in relation to thermal and plastic processing.
